1st Photo of a Volcano Erupting from Space

This spectacular photo was taken from the International Space station on June 12th by an astronaut using a hand-held Nikon D2XS digital camera fitted with a 400 mm lens. It is the Russian Sarychev Peak in the Kuril Islands north of Japan.  You can see a pyroclastic flow going down the mountain side towards the lower right.  More info here.
